Growing up in the midwest, Robert's musical influences ranged from artists such as Tom Petty, U2, and Jackson Browne to Bruce Cockburn and Randy Stonehill. He studied guitar and began composing original material. This Dream, his first single release in 1990, received airplay on midwestern college radio as did the followup in 1992, Far From Today. 1995's Come to Freedom album took a spiritual angle, exploring the theme of grace. In 1996, he formed the group Whitbeck & Co. which performed at the Nebraska State Fair and local Omaha clubs before disbanding in 1999. He then released Backward Glance, a compilation of solo and band material which aired on Omaha radio station 106.9 The City. Moving to the Monterey Bay area of California in the early 2000s, he performed on radio stations KRKC and KPIG as well as area clubs. Now back in the midwest, he continues to compose and teach guitar. Robert's latest release is a new worship CD, "To the One Who is Worthy," out on Itunes, Amazon and Youtube! Filled with energy and lyrical depth, this disc explores the realm of worship from his unique angle.
